Nuestras Voces y Herencia Oral History Project

Latinos and Latinas in Yamhill County have a rich and diverse history that has contributed to the county’s identity since the 1940’s.

Nuestras Voces y Herencia is a new project dedicated to gathering and preserving the life stories of Yamhill County' s Latino community.

In 2015, Unidos received a small grant from the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition to take the lead in recording the oral histories of Latinos and Latinas in Yamhill County. Partnering with the Yamhill County Historical Society & Museum, as well as the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition, we are committed to making audio- or video- recordings of at least 40 individuals or families in 2016.

Interviewers have now been trained and are ready to go! Interviews may be up to 2 hours long, and can include several family members. The recordings will be edited by staff members of the Oregon Multicultural Archives (OMA) at Oregon State University where they will be available to future generations for education and research.

Everyone's story is important.  What is your story?

These oral histories will become a gift to your children, great-grandchildren, and the whole community.

What a wonderful way to pass along your legacy.
