Citizenship Classes

Are you a Legal Permanent Resident with a “green card”?  We hope you’ll take the next step to U.S. citizenship with our FREE citizenship classes.

Since June 2012 through January 2019, Unidos Bridging Community and Lutheran Community Services Northwest have collaborated to provide citizenship classes to more than 400 students here in Yamhill County!

We offer three sessions per year. Fall and Spring classes are in McMinnville at Chemeketa Yamhill Valley Campus. Winter classes are in Newberg at Portland Community College.

Using a workbook that costs $10 for each student, we teach American history, government, and civics that is needed to pass the examination given by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). We also give an overview of the process to submit the appropriate paperwork to USCIS and what the naturalization interview and exam will be like.

Three different class options are offered to meet the diverse needs of the students. There are classes in English only, English with Spanish support, and Spanish only.

The teachers and assistants are community volunteers who enjoy helping immigrant students achieve their goals.

If you would like more information, or wish to volunteer to assist with the classes, please contact Jules.
