hUnidos Bridging Community (Unidos) is a community-based, non-profit organization serving Yamhill County, Oregon. Our mission is to promote the integration, participation, representation, and success of Latinx individuals and families in Yamhill County and to build bridges of understanding and support among Latinx and non-Latinx.

Established in 2012, the work of Unidos is accomplished through the education of community members, policy and community advocacy, immigration support, and leadership development in an environment where collaboration and relationship-building are essential.

Unidos collaborates with nonprofit organizations, local and state government agencies, health and education partners, faith organizations, and businesses in our activities. We recognize that our mission will be most successful when our Latinx community leaders have community support and access to resources and services necessary for families and communities to thrive.

As we continue to strive towards supporting our community, we acknowledge the vital role that our staff plays as members of this community. Recognizing the significance of our values, which include prioritizing wellness, promoting equity, encouraging continuous learning, upholding integrity, fostering teamwork, and embracing humor; we remain committed to incorporating these values within our organizational framework as we navigate through these unprecedented circumstances.

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, our staff has been working tirelessly on the front lines, interacting with community members in various settings including workplaces, places of worship, community gatherings, or educational institutions. Despite the challenges posed by other resource organizations’ remote programs, we have kept up with our unique, culturally responsive outreach and engagement strategies. We believe that our approach has allowed us to build strong relationships and establish trust with the community members we serve continuously.

Through our experience, we have learned the importance of upholding our values to adapt to the constantly changing environment. Therefore, we integrate these values in every aspect of our organization’s daily operations, be it management, service delivery, or outreach activities, to maintain our commitment towards realizing equity, inclusivity, trust, and respect for everyone.
